One of the most interesting thing in Chudovo is settlement of gypsies who found here after the nuclear catastrophe at Chernobyl. A number of gypsies were accused of fabricating the births of babies this year in order to collect "maternal capital," the payments Putin has introduced to encourage population growth. There was also a major graft case in Chudovo recently involving road construction that broke in April.
